National Conference on the topic “Green Strategies for Sustainable Development” held on 16-17 MAY, 2024.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Management & IT(under the aegis of DSGMC) which is affiliated to GGSIPU organized a two day National Conference on the topic “Green Strategies for Sustainable Development” held on 16-17 MAY, 2024. The theme of the conference was based on 17 SDG’s which focused on the accomplishment of   peace, prosperity and sustainable future. A gesture of gratitude was extended to Honorable S. Harmeet Singh Kalka Ji, President, DSGMC and S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon Ji, General Secretary, DSGMC and Co-Chairman, SGTBIMIT and our worthy Chairman S. Jasbir Singh Jassi Ji, for their significant contributions and presence in the upliftment and sustainable development of the Institute. 

The Honorable Director Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kaur,offered her insightful perspectives upon the need of sustainable planning, green infrastructure and eco-friendly transportation systems for fostering a healthier planet to create livable and resilient cities. 

The keynote speaker Ms. Smita Pandey Mishra, an entrepreneur and a Founder/ CEO of Fandoro Technologies. Fandoro recently won the award for the Startup of the Year for SDGs in India. She helped many businesses to adopt the UN Sustainable Development Goals framework for becoming a planet-positive. She emphasized upon the urgency of adopting green initiatives to mitigate climate change and promote environmental resilience by identifying and managing their sustainability-related risks and opportunities. 

Mrs. Rajni Bhasin, an educationist, career counselor and a social reformer highlighted the significance of biodiversity conservation, sustainable land management, and waste reduction strategies.  Her empowering words also highlighted the significance of a safe and sustainable future.

Experts, researchers, and policymakers converged at SGTBIMIT, to foster dialogue and collaboration towards a greener future, addressing pressing environmental challenges and promoting innovative solutions by focusing upon sustainable energy, environmental conservation, waste management, sustainable urban development, and climate change adaptation.

Notable discussions revolved around sustainable urban planning, green infrastructure, and eco-friendly transportation systems to create livable and resilient cities. Experts underscored the role of community engagement and technological innovation in promoting sustainable urban development.

The conference concluded with a call to action, urging participants to implement the insights and recommendations shared during the event. As the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, the adoption of green strategies is imperative for safeguarding the planet and ensuring a sustainable future for generations
