Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Management and IT, Nanak Piao one of the premier institutes of DSGMC organized the National Conference on “Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Business” in association with the World Sikh Chamber of Commerce (WSCC) on May 26, 2023. The programme commenced with the recitation of shabad as a tribute to Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji. We are highly thankful to S. Harmeet Singh Kalka Ji, President, DSGMC, who is always encouraging, motivating, and providing guidance and support for taking the progress of the Institute towards scaling new heights. We are thankful to S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon Ji, General Secretary, DSGMC for assuring a committed endeavor from DSGMC to bring all-round development with the hallmark of quality and excellence. They have always encouraged the youth for the innovative ideas and thoughts to promote their hidden talents and entrepreneurship. We are thankful to our Chief patrons Chairman, SGTBIMIT, Hon’ble S. M.P.S Chadha Ji and revered Co-Chairman S. Jasbir Singh Jassi Ji, for their never-ending support and guidance to organize the National Conference. They have always worked to improve education quality and accommodate more and more opportunities for academic collaborations. The Convenor of the National Conference Prof. (Dr.) Navneet Kaur, Director SGTBIMIT, enlightened the august gathering and encouraged them for promoting innovative and creative approaches that cross disciplinary boundaries in producing new information and knowledge. She focused on the recent trends and concerns, practical challenges and solutions adopted in the field of Interdisciplinary Academic Research and Innovation and discussed the comprehensive approach to business management that works to maximize long-term economic, social, and environmental value. Our Key Note Speaker was Dr. Parmeet Singh Chadha, who is a Delhi-based Sikh Businessman turned Entrepreneur & Real Estate Investor. He is positioned as C.E.O of World Exports (India), a Tiger Group Company, and Founder & President of World Sikh Chamber of Commerce, a Worldwide Non-Pro?t Sikh Net-working Platform comprising Sikh Businessmen, Professionals, Entrepreneurs & Start Ups from all across the globe. He is an acclaimed Business Motivator & Leader, a Mentor, a Socialite, a Philanthropist and quite a renowned and multifaceted personality. He focused on sustainable development and social equality and motivated the students to enhance their entrepreneurial skills to establish their own startups and businesses. Our eminent Guest Speaker for the day was S. Jasmeet Singh Chandhok, Director Training and Development – WSCC. He is a Youth Success mentor and an Educator, Counsellor, and an Employability expert. He has 10 years of experience in the industry which has taken him to various parts of the country. He has pioneered and has led many innovative youth organizations working for the cause of providing equal opportunities to Youth irrespective of their demographics. In his special address, he focussed on how companies could integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. The session was also chaired by Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Gulati, who is a Professor by Profession and an Author by Passion. She is also a corporate trainer, Motivational Speaker, and philanthropist. She has gathered a large number of degrees and is a source of inspiration for many who yearn to study. She has been honored by the World Book of Records. Australia. She is the founder of “Weaving Dreams” which is a platform to empower people from different spheres and enable them to interact with each other so as to foster greater global exposure, branding, and visibility for all. Harvinder Pal Singh Chugh was also one of the resource persons who addressed the gathering and expressed his opinions and discussed the importance of sustainability and the evolution of purpose within the business environment. He is a Finance Controller & Company Secretary at Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd. Eminent Guests for the day were Dr. Kuljeet Singh Marwah, Global Director, WSCC, S. Dilpreet Singh, Director, International Trade Wing, S. Amardeep Singh, International Director, WSCC, and many other youth personalities from WSCC. Dr. Satvinder Kaur, Associate Professor at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce. She is a proactive and enterprising professional with more than 20 years of teaching experience to undergraduates and post-graduates. She talked about Corporate sustainability as a more holistic approach, considering the social impacts of business alongside the environment and economy. The conference was attended by eminent academicians, faculty members, and students from reputed technical and educational institutions from different parts of the country, and representatives from the industry. The students were enlightened and motivated about new discoveries, dynamic industry trends and innovations, and sustainable business practices. Around 100 papers were received from India and Abroad. These included papers from renowned universities like University of Hertfords, UK, IIT Jammu, University of Delhi, GGSIP University, Amity University, Northcap University, Gautam Budha Technical University, Banasthali University, Ambala University, Thapar University, Manipal University, Manav Rachna University, etc. The Conference proceedings on “Interdisciplinary Academic Research and Innovation” with ISBN No. 978-81-957093-5-9 was released by eminent guests. We feel proud to share that some of the selected papers will be published in our Journal “SGTBIMIT Journal of Management and Informatics Practices”, Vol. 3 with ISSN No 2583-1631. Best paper was awarded to Dr. Supreet Kaur Sahi, Dr. Harshita Tuli, Abhishek Kumar, and Aditya Kumar Singh. Special thanks to the Organizing committee, Dr. Supreet Kaur Sahi, Ms. Ritinder Kaur and Ms. Mandeep Kaur, our HOD’s of all the departments, faculty members, and staff for their efforts and hard work in making this event a great success!!
